Fùrca Coffee Table
Fùrca Coffee Table
In a time when the Sardinian countryside is quieting down into soft rains that will nurture the next year’s harvest, Pretziada had the pleasure of hosting an extended residency with the newly formed Mimo Studio.
Over three months, Raphaelle Lhuillier and Margaux Padrutt studied the fluctuating rhythms of the countryside and the stark beauty of the landscape. The result is the collection Fùrca, three pieces that refer directly to their lived experience on the island. Inspired by the natural extrusions of stone monoliths found throughout the forest and the geometric forms found in historic agricultural tools, Fùrca is a collection that plays with a visual language that combines both the rudimentary and the refined. The shapes that make up these objects are a contrast between natural and human-made shapes; they refer to spontaneous forms in nature and to the resolute architecture of rural places. The finish, a repetition of a slightly green and black stain, creates a variegated and smooth materiality. This table combines strong geometric forms with small details that refer to a particularly fascinating past tradition. In Sardinia oftentimes furniture is embellished with a zoomorphic detail that works as a talisman to protect the piece; a lion’s foot, a person’s face, and a perching pheasant symbolize the mythical power that will protect both the piece and its owner. Additionally, the totem/leg is host to a small carved cavity that mimics the indentations found along the paths to sacred spaces on the island; places to leave offerings of water or food or precious gifts.
Designed by Mimo Studio and Pierpaolo Mandis for Sardinian-based design publisher, Pretziada.

TRNK Collection Pillows
Information about the pillows
Kyre Chenven, a native Californian, and Ivano Atzori, Milanese by birth, moved to the southwest corner of Sardinia four years ago to begin working with artisans on resuscitating local craft. Kyre worked for years as a set designer in New York, while Ivano comes from the world of graffiti and contemporary art.
Together they work symbiotically as cultural translators: writing and photographing the particularities of the island, reproposing new designs of classic pieces, producing original designs of international creatives and assisting the artisans to shape their future trajectory. Research and narration are at the heart of their practice.
