Ancas Credenza
Ancas Credenza
The cassapanca sarda, a large wooden chest to store linens, is one of the most ancient pieces of Sardinian furniture.
There are prehistoric bronze models of these chests, as well as examples in every region which share the same general structure, differing only slightly in decoration and style. Chiara Andreatti and Pierpaolo Mandis worked together to make Ancas, a sideboard with the same spirit as the classic Sardinian chest. It retains certain mechanisms from its antecedent - such as the lid that lifts on the top section, the inclusion of intaglio wood carving, and the massive, block-like center. Made of chestnut wood and assembled completely by hand in Mandis’ workshop, Ancas is a substantial, sculptural reimagining of a prominent piece of Sardinian history.
Designed by Chiara Andreatti and Pierpaolo Mandis for Sardinian-based design publisher, Pretziada.

Pretziada is a Sardinia-based creative practice dedicated to preserving and reimagining the island’s cultural heritage through writing, photography, and contemporary design made with local artisans.
Founded by Kyre Chenven, a former New York set designer, and Ivano Atzori, an artist rooted in graffiti and contemporary art, Pretziada acts as a cultural bridge—documenting Sardinia’s traditions while developing new interpretations of classic forms. Research, storytelling, and collaboration remain central to their work.
