40 Years Ago Area Rug
40 Years Ago Area Rug
This series of rugs is adapted from the meticulous ink drawings of Dutch artist Louis Reith. Reith's hand-drawn geometric patterns and collaged compositions are inspired by elements of design, folk art, and suggested space. His works follow a strictly calculated formula, seeking the perfect balance between foreground and background. The artist achieves freedom and movement through repetition, resulting in captivating compositions.
From a distance, the artist's perfected compositions look like digitally manufactured prints, but up close, the artist's hand is revealed through handmade play, glitches, and wavering lines. These same qualities are reflected in the adapted rugs. Each piece showcases Reith's dedication to his craft, as well as his passion for exploring the boundaries between traditional and modern art forms.

Each rug should be unpacked as soon as possible, since the fibers need to "breathe" and adapt.
Shedding may occur, which is a characteristic of all cut carpets made of natural fibers, and does not cause any damage to the carpet. Regular vacuuming is recommended before the first use and afterwards, using a flat nozzle, always moving the vacuum cleaner in the direction of the pile. This will help your carpet last longer.
Blot stains immediately by laying a towel over the affected area to absorb the moisture. Do not rub. In the case of serious stains, consult a professional carpet-cleaning company.
If you need to store your carpet for a long period, never fold it, simply roll it and store it horizontally, this will prevent indentations.

Information about the pillows
Louis Reith (b. 1983, Hengelo, The Netherlands) is an artist known for his monochrome mystical landscapes and Modernist-inspired geometric compositions. Drawing from architectural forms and the Bauhaus tradition, he creates work that balances technical precision with a subtle, handmade quality.
His practice spans ink drawings, collage, and reworked images, shaped by an early career in graphic design and a deep appreciation for printed matter. This fusion of influences informs his approach, merging functional aesthetics with a lyrical, narrative sensibility.
