Whether made from silk, stone, or ceramic, the works presented by the nine female designers in GAEA share a similar desire to question our preconceived notions of form, drawing parallels to the multifaceted experience of womanhood.
The objects are uncompromising, yet each designer approaches her chosen medium with an undeniable grace. More competing dualities emerge - soft yet strong, sharp and smooth, fragile but unyielding - subverting our expectation of both concept and material. And perhaps, of how we see ourselves and how we are perceived.
